The patent pending StretchTec Shoulder Relief Girth is the most technologically advanced girth available. Not only does it redirect the saddle’s billet line to protect the shoulder from saddle impingement, but it also stretches in proportion over a horse’s sternum for better breathing. The center of the girth is offset from the buckles, which allows the center of the girth to sit in the horse’s natural girth groove, while the buckles attach to the billets farther back than with a basic girth. This changes the angle of the billets to be more perpendicualr to the ground which minimizes the forward pressure on the saddle, and thus allows for a horse’s shoulder to have more room to rotate without interference from the saddle. The uniquely shaped center elastic allows the girth to stretch in proportion to the shape of a horse’s sternum. This allows for easier chest expansion while breathing at the walk and trot (the chest expands 1.5 cm on average), and the extra give offers softer contact over the sternum. Even though saddle fit, comfort and performance are the StretchTec Shoulder Relief Girth’s main purpose, it also offers some intuitive and practical construction elements. The liners (the padded cover portion that touches the horse) are removable and interchangeable. Currently leather and neoprene liners are available, but more material options will be released. Not only does this give material choices based on type of riding, weather, and horse preference, but it also makes it easy to keep clean. The entire girth is made of high end English saddlery leather, with elastic in the center and around the buckles. But even more note worthy is the ultra durable billet keeper design. Each billet keeper is one constant loop of leather that wraps though the entire girth to prevent any kind of tearing or failure.
